April Giveaway: Lomography Fisheye No. 2 Camera!

We're jumping back into the world of Lomography cameras this month with our little giveaway! Up for grabs is a slick and stylish Fisheye camera with viewfinder! Mike and I purchased one of these little guys several months ago and we've had so much fun playing with it. We still have tons of film to develop from it so I should take this as my cue to get on that! It's super easy to use and it makes for some really interesting prints! (My favorite is to play around with multiple exposures!)

Some interesting specs on this camera include:
    • 170 degree fisheye lens
    • On-Camera Flash
    • Hot Shoe Mount for External Flash
    • "Bulb" Setting for Long Exposures
    • "Lock" setting so the shutter won't fire in your bag

All you have to do to enter is:

Be a follower of this blog with Google Friend Connect! (Click "Follow" in the upper nav bar and follow with Google/Blogger, Twitter, Yahoo, or Aim!) and then leave a comment with your email address! (This is just one entry!) You must do this entry first to be eligible for additional entries!

To gain additional entries, you can blog, tweet, update your status on Facebook with a link over to the giveaway or "Like" Little Chief Honeybee on FacebookJust be sure to leave a separate comment for each entry and leave the link to each one! (You can tag @KaelahBee on Twitter and @Little Chief Honeybee on Facebook!) Overall that's FIVE ways to win!

A winner will be announced at the end of the month! Good luck! (Don't worry, there will still be other sponsored giveaways going on in the time being!)

We are slowly (it seems) approaching the weekend. I can't wait to see what the weather is going to be like. It's been in the 80's out of nowhere & you know what that means? SUNBATHING by the pool for me while listening to some Sam Cooke on my iPhone. Ugh can't wait... !!!

iPhone Photos: Spring Wardrobe

My wardrobe is pretty set for spring. I've been accumulating some of these pieces for a while now...
    iPhone Photos: Spring Wardrobe
Rikki of Kissyface was so very nice and sent me a Western bow tie and wooden floral brooch. You'll be seeing both pieces very soon in future shoots.
    iPhone Photos: Spring Wardrobe
I had a store credit just itching to be used at Dear Creatures. I bought the Hannah dress in stripes and the Colonel blouse in purple/beige (which is on sale).
    iPhone Photos: Spring Wardrobe
Siren sent me two very pretty chiffon blouses. I will be pairing both with wide leg trousers.
    iPhone Photos: Spring Wardrobe
I have three events coming up in the next two months and these two Dahlia dresses will be seeing me through- my sister's baby shower, a cousin's bridal shower and my 30th birthday party (yikes I'm not ready to be 30). I bought both dresses on asos with one of the 20%off coupons that they're always sending to my email.iPhone Photos: Spring Wardrobe
And last, but certainly not least- I was finally able to procure the elusive Rachel Antonoff Bass floral navy saddle shoes. It was a happy accident when I checked Free People on Monday and got the last pair available in my size. They arrived this morning. Happy dancing ensued.
    ...
Thank You So Much for all the incredibly kind comments on my new haircut, Cole's b-day, water-heater problems/fixes and my crazy thyroid. All your love and support means so much!

    Yours,
    Maria Sig 2

Cupcakes...

I think I had the winter blues a little bit worse than I even knew. Remember a while ago when I said I thought it was weird I had only baked once this year as opposed to last year when I was baking nearly once a week? Well as soon as the weather started to get nice here the inspiration immediately hit. I have a renewed interest in all of my hobbies.

I started with some rainbow cupcakes. I tried a new recipe which will now be my go-to recipe, they're oh so yummy. Vanilla with a hint of coconut. These were originally supposed to be for my cousin's son's birthday but we weren't able to make it to the party so we're currently nom-ing on these.
I wish I could share some with you guys through the computer screen!
    xoxo

ps. Here's a little tutorial on how to make colorful cupcakes in case you don't know, or just want to see more of my pretty cupcake pictures! ;)

Gardening Print

Even though our weather is playing tricks on us lately, I am excited about planting some flowers and herbs in the next few days and this nice garden gear print by Heidi from Redcruiser jumped right out at me. See her other great garden, vegetable and fruit inspired art here.

The Cost of Religious Discrimination at Work

Employers should never underestimate the consequences of allowing religious discrimination at work. Aside from its ability to negatively affect working relationships and the morale of employees, religious discrimination complaints filed by aggrieved employees can cost serious financial losses to companies.

In the fiscal year of 2010 alone, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reported that claims filed and resolved under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 alleging religion-based discrimination has amounted to $10 million.

Most recently, a major retailer in North Carolina was held liable to pay $55,000 as well as other relief in order to settle a religious discrimination lawsuit filed by an employee who was fired for refusing to wear Santa attire.

The former employee, Myra Jones-Abid, who is a member of Jehovah’s Witness, was allegedly required by Belk’s Crabtree Valley Mall store during Christmas season last 2008 to don a Santa hat and apron. However, it is prohibited under her religion to recognize holidays so she refused to wear the holiday attire. Subsequently, she was fired by the company for declining to wear the apparel.

The EEOC then charged Belk with religious discrimination in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as the company failed to provide reasonable accommodation to Abid’s sincerely held religious beliefs and even fired her because of it.

Aside from the monetary award to Abid, Belk is also required under the settlement agreement to provide training on religious discrimination to all managers and supervisors in its store and to post a notice about employees’ rights under federal anti-discrimination laws.

Lynette Barnes, the regional attorney for EEOC’s Charlotte District said that, “No employee should be forced to choose between her faith and her job.”

Under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, it is unlawful for employers to discriminate against employees or applicants because of their religion in hiring, firing, and other terms and conditions of employment. Reasonable accommodation is actually required to be provided to the religious practices of an employee or prospective employee unless of course this would cause undue hardship on the employer’s business operations.

Thus, the failure of the employer to observe the rights of his employee and to commit an adverse employment decision on the basis of religion (i.e. firing), will expose him to legal liability which may cost him thousands of dollars worth of
    compensation.

For more questions about religious discrimination and reasonable accommodation at work, you may call the Mesriani Law Group at (310) 826-6300 or send them an email at info@mesriani.com.

23 Before 24...

This birthday has been spectacular, and nothing extravagant has even happened! I love the little things in life. They make everything totally worth the while! We signed the lease for the loft (hooray!) and we've spent the day picking out paint colors and patterns for our new little home. We are overjoyed. So now I'm going to share with you my 23 before 24 list of goals I'm hoping going to achieve by my next birthday!

Mike's favorite is totally number 12! (/sarcasm) haha I know it's important to balance out tangible goals with the not so tangible, but these are 23 things I find to be important at the moment and I have a whole slew of other things to add to it! I'll probably need all of your help! Well, however helpful you can be through the internet!

Do you have a list of things you want to accomplish before you turn a year older? Share some of them with me! (Or link me over to your post!)

PS; Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes today! You've made it absolutely fantastic and the overwhelming love and support I have from y'all is amazing!

PPS; To clear up confusion about #21: I did graduate. Well, I finished college in December, but O'More doesn't have winter graduations so I have to wait until May to walk at graduation and to get my degree. :) haha It's a special day because graduation day is also my mom's birthday! Having your only child graduate college is a pretty rad birthday present right? So I don't have to buy anything?! *kidding* :P
