One of my absolutely favorite places to look for hidden treasures is a junk store in Erie, PA. I honestly have no idea what it's called, there is a sign outside that says "garage sale" but other than that there are no real markings. It's kind of smelly inside, but we rarely ever leave without something. The store has a wide variety of things including lots of books, cameras, dishes, a boat load of christmas stuff, tools and a little bit of everything else. Nothing is priced, when you are ready to check out the man working looks over what you've gathered, gives you a price and asks if that sounds good.
Kevin and I have noticed it seems like the more you get the less you pay, so when after scouring the store we only had one camera and two books we decided we would go through the store one more time looking for more goodies we'd missed or put back what we had already picked up and leave with nothing.
We ended up back at the cameras still with nothing more than the camera and books when I decided to look at the 35mm film. I've noticed in the past they usually have a nice little selection of expired film there so I started digging when I saw it. That oh so special word was written on the front: Polaroid. It was still in the package. I grabbed it quickly (not like anyone was around, there isn't usually more than 5 people in there at a time) and found the expiration date. 6/07. There's a great possibility it will work.... Finally we go to check out, ten items total, the man asks for $10. I'm pretty stoked about this, even if it doesn't work the other things are worth more than a dollar a piece so no big deal.
The second I got home I shoved the film in my camera and took a picture. THE FILM WORKED. It's slightly dark but I paid one dollar for it. You cannot beat that.
I can't even tell you how excited I still am! I'm so curious how long it had been there. Had I passed by it numerous times before? Despite the fact that I seriously doubt I'll get this lucky again, checking the film section will always be my top priority in there!
Monday I took the day off work and went thrifting with my mom. We both found a lot of goodies. Top three favorite finds: A new paint by number, brand new shoes (for $1!) for summer time and overalls.
Yes, I'm dead serious about the overalls. I've been looking for pair for a long time but all I could seem to find at the thrift stores were like XXXXXL. These fit perfectly! I totally rock them too! I'll make sure to share some better pictures of them soonish in an outfit post.
Found anything worth mentioning while thrifting lately?
xoxo
