- Everyone likes a challenge right? I like a project that I can do a little of each day for a long period of time. And the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the year....It feels great! ;)
- You'll get to better know your camera(s) which in turn will make you a better photographer. Learning more about lighting, framing and focusing are all things that will make your pictures better and you're bound to learn if you're taking pictures everyday.
- It's a great way to help remember all the little special moments in your life! At the end of the year you'll get to look back and see what you did that day, who your were with, what your hair looked like, what you were wearing, etc. It's a lot of fun looking back through the pictures, especially when you can look back and see things that you would have otherwise forgotten!
- You'll get less shy about taking pictures in public. Wait? Am I the only person who hates taking pictures around other people? Seriously though, you'll become more calm in public with your camera and not feel so strange about pulling out your camera to snap that perfect picture!
- Take your camera everywhere! Did you read that..? E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. Everywhere you look there is a photo opportunity! Have a really great meal at your favorite restaurant? Take a picture! Love the way the rain looks hitting your window? Take a picture! That squirrel that always hangs out in your yard? Take his picture!
- Tell your friends and family you're doing it. It's a much easier project to complete when you have others supporting you. There were a lot of days I was being lazy and Kevin would ask "Did you take a picture for 365 yet?" They're a great reminder especially in the beginning when forgetting you're doing the project just might happen!
- Upload daily! So you're posting your 365 project to flickr? Don't get behind on your uploads, you'll regret it later. There were a few times I was late uploading my pictures and some how I messed up counting. It's not that big of a deal because I know I took a picture everyday, but it would have been nice to have them all properly numbered.
- Keep a list of things you might possibly want to photograph so you never have a day where you say "there's nothing left to take pictures of!"
Yesterday was the last day of my 365 project. Yeeeeeah!!
In case you don't know project 365 is where you take one picture for each day of the year and on the first day of 2010 I committed to this project. It was challenging yet rewarding and this year I'm doing it again!
