Up To Date Update! (Clever or Redundant?)

    I got into NYC on Saturday, and here it is, already Wednesday (I first typed Thursday... that's how worked I feel). Mike was with me for most of the duration thus far (leaving yesterday afternoon). Last night after getting back into Manhattan, I met up with Liz downstairs and we trudged across the street to the New York Sports Club gym and signed up. Huzzah! Afterwards we ran upstairs and changed into workout gear and headed back to the gym to work out. We were there for about an hour and a half and did pretty much strictly cardio. It was nice to get back to the gym. I've been much too lax about it recently. After the gym I came home to freshen up and then I Skype'd with Mike for a little while before heading to bed.

    This morning I woke up and Skype'd with Mike for an hour as I got ready for work. I trotted over to the new BUST office and Erin showed me around. First order of business was to harass (well, not really harass, just contact) some publicists for some photos for the Fall Preview issue and what not. I did that practically most of the day, all the while working on a vignette for the Reality TV article in the new issue.

    Tomorrow I'm supposed to go shopping for the fall fashion feature photoshoot (say that three times fast!). It's supposed to be stormy so hopefully that won't be an issue. Today I was caught in the rain sans umbrella so I dipped into a shop and bought a cheapo $3 one which broke before I got home (and got tangled in my hair on the way!).

    Tonight Liz and I met downstairs at 8:15 for our 8:30 Vinyasa Yoga class. I was incredibly nervous but it was a tiny class (Liz and myself with 4 others) and the teacher was really great. We both ended up having a great time, sweating like whoa, and feeling really good. I came home and settled in with the last two episodes of Glee (so good!) and now I'm Skype'n with Mike once more! The cycle continues!

    This was my outfit today. Pardon the awful iPhone-in-mirror photo... My room is much too tiny to get a legit photo, and one of my bulbs is busted so I don't even have proper lighting here! Sheesh!

    {Outfit Details o6.o9.1o}
    {Dress: Madness $30}
    {Tights: [2 pairs] WalMart $12}
    {Flats: KMart $13}
    {Belt: I have no clue}
    {Headband: By Me at My Etsy}

    I'm going to duck into bed soon because I'm exhausted, but I hope you're all having a wonderful week and all that jazz!

    Oh, and exciting news! Mike is coming back to the city July 2-5 (which means he'll be here for 4th of July festivities!) and he'll be back AGAIN August 4th to help me pack up and drive home on August 7th! Guess we better find a new place to live in Franklin/Nashville before then! I don't wanna be moving like 7 times in just a few months!

    xoxo

    PS; Mike and I are doing this thing where we each take one photo a day (of anything, really) and post it onto our blogs. Kind of a little insight to our day. He's posting his on HIS BLOG. So pop on over and check it out (and give him a follow!). Here's mine.

    Mine is my work station at BUST today. My computer, Wacom (I resurrected it from the flood! Holy someone upstairs is looking out for me!) tablet, Legal pad with lots of daily notes, call sheet, my notebook which contains my life, faux-southern sweet tea, etc. You get the gist. :)

Well, what now?!

    First and foremost, I just want to say a big THANK YOU to the overwhelmingly sweet e-mails I have been receiving. Not saying this to be all "oohh I get tons of emails!" braggy braggy, but to say a sincere thank you to the few emails I woke up to this morning that just wanted to wish me Good Luck on my last Final Exam in Art History today! Seriously! That made my day and helped me face the big bad wolf with a little more courage. Granted, I wasn't exactly as prepared as I would have liked to have been, but I chalk that up to the fact that I was just burnt out. Either way, I am now a free woman! I wish I could lay back and take it all in but I have to work tonight haha Womp Womp Wompppp!

    The past week has been one of the most stressful of my life. Over the past year and a half, I've really reinvented myself to not be one who stresses or worries. I take things as they come and I always hope for the best. Worry and stress solve no problems, right? Well, this stress wasn't backing down. Luckily I came out on the other end and just as I finished up my exam and left campus, I was greeted with an email in my inbox from Erin (Senior Designer) at BUST! She let me know that everything is in place and BUST will be in it's new home by my arrival. I even get a desk! Giddy! It was the kind of overwhelming excitement and a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. The kind of AWESOME where all you want to do is cry. So in between sobs you're trying to regain control of your cheeks because they're darn near your eyeballs from smiling so big! Yeah! I was just so relieved to be through with semester; So ready to be on my way to NYC. It was the kind of feeling where you just KNOW. I'd say something cheesy like it's when you just know you've found "the one"... that's how BUST feels to me. I instantly feel reenergized, inspired, and empowered. The stress of finals makes me question why I chose a degree in graphic design to begin with, and then BUST brings that feeling of accomplishment. I'm so incredibly blessed to be interning with such an amazing publication. I cannot thank my lucky stars enough! NYC, get ready. I'm coming for you!

    I have so much to get done in the next few weeks. I don't even know where to start. I can't believe that come Monday, I have absolutely no agenda for a while! Amazing! I just might stay in my jammies all week! Haha well no, that would be overkill. But maybe a full 24 hours! Mike's birthday is on Wednesday so I must prepare for that. I have to ship out some packages from Kaelah's Closet (You can still buy stuff! CLICK HERE to get more info!) Mom's birthday and Mother's Day are right around the corner. And I really want to get some dresses sewn.

    So much to do but I'm pumped. Good things are happening this Summer. Can't you just feel it?! This is my Summer. This is the Summer in which things will come to fruition! I'm sure of it!

    Whatever your plans may be, whether you're still in finals or on the brink of starting/finishing them, just think about the magical Summer ahead of you! Even if you're not taking a vacation or doing anything glamourous, make the most of it! Make this Summer YOURS! It's a good good year!

    I'm going to go dye my hair (so overdue!) and hang out with Baby G for a while before meeting Mike on his lunch break! I hope this is the most magical Friday you've ever had! Feel free to email me and say hello if you're a new reader! (or even if you're not!) KaelahBee (@) Gmail (dot) com!

    xoxo

    PS; I've received a few emails about Internships and how to get them, etc etc etc. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ASK ME HERE or email me! I'm in no way an Internship Guru or anything, but sometimes it helps to ask someone who has been in your shoes :) (that's what I did!). Also, there was a girl at one point who wanted to intern at BUST... did you ever apply?!

    PPS; I've been listening to Maria Taylor and Meiko all day! And here's one of my favorite songs/lines from Maria Taylor!

    Maria Taylor : LadyLuck
    follow yourself and hope that you know where you're going
    and don't question your steps that lead you into the moment
    and you'll meet a friend along the way
    you can't wait for each new day
    it doesn't always work the way you planned it
    i like it better this way

Final Assignment on ModBlog

    Last night at Midnight PST (2am here!) the final intern assignments went up on ModBlog. The competition is fierce but I'm afraid the fact that my video wasn't documenting from the moment I woke up until the moment I went to sleep will hurt me. Either way, I was happy with my video and blog (the pictures are included in the video!).

    Anywho, you're only allowed one vote but if you want to throw one my way, feel free. I won't complain. CLICK HERE to see the other videos/blogs and to vote.

    Here is my video below... (Forgive me... I know very little about iMovie... but I was able to pick up a few tricks!)

    Also, it appears that iMovie kind of botched the quality (this was all shot with a Mino HD Flip Cam with the exception of the Print class piece (Macbook iSight))... anyone know how to not have that happen in the future? I exported as a medium format. Maybe export using Quicktime?

    Bleh. I'm sitting in Art History 2 now and I just wanted to post this up real quick. I'm still sickly and it's awful. I woke up with no voice this morning. Now I just sound like an old man :P Happy Friday! More later...

    xo

    EDIT: it's an ear infection. man alive! it is NOT fun! Just call me Cotton Ball ears!

The Never-Ending Sublet Search!

    The days are dragging on and it's almost March. Time for me to start my super-hard-head-hunting... well... sublet hunting! I didn't mind living at NYU last year but I'd rather not pay $1,100 a month to share a tiny room and then a tiny suite with 4 other people. Not to mention a tiny single was $1,400. I've had a couple potential leads on Craigslist but its a bit early for that seeing as these are listed already. But Keep your fingers crossed for me!

    In the same regard, does anyone know of any sublet opportunities for mid-may until August 1st? Better yet, does anyone need a roommate? Or is anyone looking for a sublet/apartment in NYC this summer? dates are flexible... and if I get the BME internship, It'll be more like the first week of June until August 1st. Regardless, I will be go-go-go!

    I hope I can break out of my shell just a bit this summer. I was good about it last year but I think it'll be easier if I'm not thrown into a living situation with someone I've never met, etc. :)

    I'd prefer to live in lower Manhattan (in/around Union Square or south) or somewhere in Brooklyn.. but preferably no more than a 20 minute train ride to Union Sq!

    In totally unrelated news, I spoke to my ex-best friend-of-6-years last night for the first time in 7 months. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thrilled. Sometimes as humans we have to swallow our pride and focus on what really matters. He even called randomly at 4am and we're still texting now. It's a blessed thing to be able to call someone your best friend for so long.

    On the subject of friends... Have you ever had a friend that you totally adored, but he/she started to morph into someone you didn't recognize? Slightly more cold-hearted, distant, and just totally NOT the same person? How about when you've got 2 of those... at the same time... dating each other? The past few weeks have marked a very strange turning point for me in regards to a couple friendships. Part of me thinks "it must be me" merely because I'm the common denominator... but after thoroughly assessing the situation, I can say that without a doubt, it isnt. My friend Caitlin said it best when she said "some people can be so great on their own... but when you put a certain two people together, its like a lethal combination"... okay so maybe that wasn't verbatim but its close! And I think these 2, as much as I love them, are a toxic combo... I want to bring it up to them but I don't even know how to address it. I have a feeling they'll get defensive and try to justify everything they've done. Part of me just wants to be done with people like that but I'm not one to just throw valuable friendships away. Advice?

    GalaDarling was more than gracious enough to give me a little shoutout on her weekly carousel regarding the BME intern contest. Such a giddy little delight to see! Thank you, Gala! In case you missed out, I'm a finalist for 1 of the 4 lucky spots on the BME World Tour and your vote would mean the world to me! (But vote for who YOU think deserves it!) Head on over to the ModBlog, check out the stiff competition, and vote! But make it count! You only get to vote once! CLICK HERE to see the finalists!

    I need to start getting ready for work! Oh My!

    xo

    ps; i JUST opened the mail to find a lovely package from my dear penpal Ashley! eep! She always has such cute paper and wrapping and tape! She wrote me a lovely little letter (and has fabulous handwriting!), adorable lined paper and cute green envelope, oh and sent me a gorgeous Anna Sui coinpurse that matches my new favorite dress, too! This makes me so happy! What a wonderful surprise! Thank you Ashley! Expect something in the mail soon! xo

BME World Tour Finalist!

    How exciting! I've been chosen by Rachel, Jen, and the BME team as one of the 18 finalists! So far so good! I'm sitting nicely in the Poll. The poll doesn't choose the winners, but it helps give an idea of who the BME community supports and likes, etc.

    If you have time, it'd be so great if you could zip on over to the ModBlog and throw a vote my way! (Only if you legitimately think I'm qualified for the position though!) By all means, please watch the videos of the other applicants and vote for who YOU think best fits! (You can vote for 4 people, but you can only vote once! Make it count!) Please familiarize yourself with the project at hand and know WHAT you're voting for! It won't feel too tiring to watch the videos... They're actually all incredibly interesting!

    Click HERE to visit the ModBlog and see the other candidates and myself. The poll is at the bottom of the page!

    Winners should be announced on March 1st so keep your fingers crossed, y'all! Until then, I'm calling my Academic Dean religiously! :D

my BME World Tour Audition Video

    I finished my silly audition video for Rachel at BME. She emailed me and confirmed that she received everything... so now I wait. It would be such a cool experience and I'd love to take part. If you're interested in seeing 10 minutes of me being awkward and nasally and totally unaware that YouTube was going to cut my head off for the first few minutes, feel free to click play.

    If you want to show your support for Team Kaelah, you can feel free to leave a nice comment or something on the video! But by all means don't feel obligated! I'm just posting this because it's also me telling more about myself and my tattoos and all that jazz.

    I will have more exciting things for you all TOMORROW! Including the outfit photos from today and all that jazz! Right now, Mike and I are going to watch Modern Family and hit the hay so I can make it to my Art History class in the morning and not sleep through it again! Eep! Goodnight lovelies!

    xo

    PS; for anyone who didn't catch the update... MIKE now has a blog! hooray! Feel free to pop on over, follow him, and say hello! He's very excited about having his own little blog in the blogger world! CLICK HERE TO FOLLOW HIM!
