Sail into the sunset

You can't see me, but right now I'm doing a spastic happy dance in my living room! This amazingly perfect dress is a total dream come true! It all started back in March when I was contacted by the lovely Shannon of Smilla Clothing. She asked me if I was interested in collaborating on a dress design and I said "Yes!!" without hesitation. And so the process began. I told her about my style, loves, dreams, etc and she put pencil to paper and created what you see now. I was pretty open to many different vintage-inspired designs, my only requests were that I wanted a sailor collar and something that suited my figure. And voilà, Shannon made it happen! She is seriously genius.

Art Translated

Serendipitously I came across the artwork of Jeff Depner and being an enthusiast of stripes, polka-dots and cool spins on geometry it really made me happy. After perusing his site for a bit, I discovered that Pringle of Scotland used his work as inspiration for their Spring/Summer Collection of 2012. How awesome is that! Can you think of any other rad artwork that has directly translated onto the runway?

Ponchos For the Fall....

Fall is officially here & I CAN'T wait to wear all my boots & blazers. This FALL I'm looking to buy a poncho for my upcoming trip to NYC at the end of October.


I don't know about you...but I remember back in the day I'd spot someone wearing a poncho on the street & think - "who the heck wants to wear something that looks like a bag??!?!!?!?!?"  


Guess what.....Now I WANT to wear this bag!

someday back when we were young

Hey, what'd ya know! I'm actually back with another outfit post less than a week later! Woohoo. It's cool when I can stick to my goals. I feel all accomplished, organized and what not. Cole has been amazing finding what little spare time he has to help me out. He's the best darling a girl could ask for.

This is another outfit I've had on the back burner, just waiting for cooler weather to wear. It's my 20s-living-in-the-70s inspired look. Of course I had to throw a beret into the mix. When the weather gets the least bit cool, you know I can't contain my love of berets any longer and this mocha beauty is my new favorite.

I'm afraid of everyone

Do I dare say I'm back? I know I've said it before then disappeared again, but I'm truly hoping that this time around I'm right. If I can at least post an outfit once a week, I'll be a very happy girl. The cooler, most-glorious weather we've been having in the Twin Cities should definitely help accomplish my goal. There's no season I cherish more than autumn! It just suits my personality and style so well and to wear tights again is a great pleasure.

I've been dying to style this blouse ever since the lovely people at Ruche were kind enough to send it my way! I'm not sure what I love most, the beautiful crochet collar and front panel or the fact that the name includes my favorite dreamland, Avonlea. I considered it an act of providence (to quote Anne) that I accidentally received this Delightful Dozen skirt around the same time. Even though I had already left the group by the time it arrived, it was a nice surprise to receive one last item, especially one I had been waiting to style for some time.

My FALL Fashion....

Welcome back! SORRY I missed 'My Weekend' post.  I didn't really do ANYTHING interesting this weekend so it may have been a BORING picture....no, actually I was just crazy busy & didn't get to it, sorry!! 


On another note, I wanted to talk about my favorite season.....Fall. It starts a few months after my birthday with the weather cooling down & the leaves falling from the trees.  
 
Of course, it's the perfect time to wear scarves, boots & even leather pants - if you dare right??!! I gathered a few items that I'm sooo thinking about getting & can't wait to get my hands on some of these! Of course, NOT all this will come home with me, or my bank account will BURST!

Textile Designer: Vanessa Adao

A blogger friend of mine and graphic designer, Vanessa Adao is now devoting herself to textile design! Vanessa is originally from Brazil & now lives in Los Angeles where she is currently devoting herself to blogging & textile design! 

Her textiles are a mixture of FUN colors that are reminiscent of her homeland in Brazil! She recently exhibited her textiles at Print Source in NYC and was able to share some of those images with us!



 
For those of you who aren't familiar with Print Source it is the Premier Market for Surface & Textile Design in the USA & holds up to 3 shows a year! It's a great place to go if you're looking to break into the FABRIC design business as they showcase hundreds of collections by international surface & textile design studios and agents!
