There are times when I look back on old posts and try to remember what possessed me to wear such an odd outfit and then there are times when I look back and fall in love with a style all over again. Here are some of my autumnal favorites from 2009 & 2010...

It's quite hilarious seeing my bright red hair side-by-side with my natural light brown. I still can't believe I was crazy enough to dye it last fall!! I think 2010 Maria was quite adventurous.
...I'm currently on a Wisconsin, thrifting, road trip with my new friends Amanda and John! We're all looking for great finds to stock up our shops. Dear Creatures Autumn 2011

Bianca and Rob kill me every season. I always have an endless list of must-own items from each Dear Creatures collection and this autumn is pure torture with their amazing pussy bow blouses, tweed blazers and regimental coats. It's times like these that I feel the bitter sting of an empty wallet...le sigh.

Urban Outfitters' fall installment makes me think of the best part of 90's fashion...grunge. Plus, I just adore Edie....
Madewell made my day when I received their first catalog! The shoot with Dree is just the awesome blend of menswear that I love....
Ruche's latest lookbook, The Industry, has plenty of office-ready ensembles that would fit perfectly on the weekend, too....
Anthropologie catalogs are always a feast for the eyes and their September issue has that wonderful eastern-european-bohemian look I find intriguing. ...Any lookbooks or catalogs that you recommend?

A lot of the time while I'm editing photos, I'm either listening to music or humming a tune that's stuck in my head. While working on this particular post, I had that awesome PJ Harvey song, you know the one from the mid 90s, on repeat in my brain (big fish, little fish...) and I felt it made a dandy title, if a little dark. Teenage Maria used to think that song was perfectly depressing.



Erin and I got to spend one last evening with Annie before she left for Chicago! We snapped some sunset photos at one of my favorite Mississippi River spots, then headed back to my place to chat. I am going to miss Annie and wish we could have spent more time together, but I'm so excited for her new adventures in grad school. I think a little road trip to Chicago is whispering my name...

L.L. Bean Men's Sweaters

Just last week, an L.L. Bean men’s fall catalog arrived on my doorstep. As I flipped through the pages I found myself looking at the most perfect classic pieces to wear for cool crisp nightly walks, carving pumpkins and sipping hot apple cider by the fire. In particular, nothing brings to mind cozy fall feelings more than a classic thick-knit sweater from L.L. Bean. Fear not ladies, we can wear these, too...simply order a size small and it will have that perfectly slouchy, borrowed-from-your-boyfriend look!

Sunset by the Lake

It's so nice having the lake to ourselves again. Now that the weather is turning cold, the park is pretty deserted rendering it perfect for photo shoots. There is nothing more serene to me than a sunset by the lake. We had to shoot fast because within no time the sun was turning bright orange and falling behind the horizon.

If you spotted yesterday's tumblr, you probably noticed that I mentioned shopping in Ann Arbor at American Apparel. Well, I did and I bought this lovely navy blue beret. You've seen my old black beret many times, but I've been dying for a navy blue one for as long as I've owned my duffle coat. I think they go together perfectly.

The coat, sweater and skirt I bought back in 2005 when I was working in finance in Andover, MA and the knee socks are actually from the beginning of my high school days bought in 1995. Shocking right!

ASOS Fall

It would seem that I'm pretty addicted to ASOS. I bought a sweater and purse from the site about a month ago and decided to go back for some more. This time around I bought another sweater, a cape and two hats. The only downside to ASOS is how slow the packages take to arrive. I've been waiting for these pieces for over two weeks!
