Sunday Spotlight - Photographer: Rowena Waack

I will be the first to admit, I usually hate cold weather. I loathe it. But something happened the other night... something "magical" if you will. I was driving home from work Friday night and it just started coming a blizzard! Well, about as blizzardly as it can get in Tennessee. It was so beautiful. It was 2:30am and it was blanketing everything around. I walked inside with it all up in my face and I couldn't help but love it. I promptly decided that I'd like to live somewhere snowy. Yep, snowy. Cold weather is so much more bearable when it's beautiful out. [I know some of you get like 7 feet a day and I'll also quickly say that I don't want quite that much! Anyway! I chose this week's Sunday Spotlight based on the beautiful images she shot of people [and snow!] I couldn't find out much about her via her Flickr Photostream and I didn't have enough time to contact her [my own fault] but hopefully I can elaborate on her later! Here are some magical images from the Rowena Waack's Flickr Photostream!

There is something to be said for film cameras and photographers... Nothing digital can hold quite the charm or whimsy like film can. The noise and grain... the shadows... the fuzzy lines... I prefer it over digital any day. It's making me want to go shoot something today!

Outfit Post : Thursday, August 26 (& 700 posts!)

I've been a bit slow on the outfit photos lately. It seems like it's hard to get photos of them when either a) I feel sluggish b) Mike is working or c) I have to be at class so early the three days I go to school. Phew! Well, I have today's outfit (which we shot last night!) and yesterday's outfit (which is all sorts of horrible really).

We were driving home and I saw these two cute barns and a teeeensy little hidden road that lead to them. It was obviously on someone's property but there were no signs saying to stay out so we went for it. It was a bit of a difficulty to get down there but we did! The timing was perfect (6pm, as the sun is setting and everything has a orange glow). We shot lots of photos with the instax, too! (I'll post those soon!)

Now I'm sitting in class (shh!) and I just gave a presentation on Betsey Johnson in Business for VisCom. I have a lot to finish re-reading before Literature class at 1. (I always seem to forget stuff unless I read it twice)

Anyway, enough talk... more photos! (There are TONS so I'll cut them!)

I think this is one of my favorite outfits ever (especially this dress) so I apologize for the ridiculous amount of photos. I loved our little spot and the light and the outfit and I just couldn't help myself! I love the length of this dress as I don't feel too exposed when I don't wear tights. The only bummer is that the top is so big that it falls constantly so I'm always adjusting. Whatever, I love it still. And these boots! My favorite boots ever. (I own the sister boots in red, too! From the same thrift store 6 months later!)

This is what I wore yesterday... but I'm not a fan so you only get two photos :P

Mike's new toy came in the mail, too! His Diana F+ Deluxe Kit or whatever. He's like a little kid in a candy shop right now. He's just gotta figure out all the bits and bobs.

Vintage Camera + Underwater Camera

We finally got some film developed tonight. We found 2 rolls in some ~vintage cameras we picked up at that junk store, but one didn't turn out and the other ended up being a waste of $6 as they were just not cool at all. Oh well! You win some and you lose some! Some of our underwater pictures turned out pretty cool but this was our first time using one so now we know what to and not to do. Maybe we'll give another one a shot sometime... (And yes, I even dared to be in a bathing suit. Well, a top and shorts, as I don't own a proper suit haha) The underwater camera was far from the most flattering thing in the world as it gets us in our bathing attire, my sloshed around makeup and hair, and Mike's wet hair/face. I guess that's part of the appeal though! We had so much fun with it. Mike took his little TIME camera to work with him and shot some photos of the guys around the shop. The film is so incredibly grainy and awesome. Such a contrast to the cool blue of the underwater film! Anyway, here are some photos! I'll save some for after the jump!
