A peek...

into my newly painted craft room. I would normally wait and take photos of it with my real camera when it's all finished but I couldn't resist sharing. I am so in love.





I'm still working on getting everything moved back in there, hence the empty shelves, but I just can't get over those stripes. I only did it on one wall so it would be like the accent wall, and be that much more special but now I'm left with one big white wall that I'm not 100% sure how to decorate since I moved my wall of polaroids to a new area.

I'm so glad I painted it white, it's amazing how bright it is in there now. I can't wait to get back to work.

Craft Room Clean Up!

I'm still tackling the task of making over my craft room into the inspiring space I need it to be. I've spent the majority of last few days organizing supplies that were just thrown in boxes, organizing tangled wire masses, dumping out drawers and putting everything back in neatly and other similar time consuming tasks.

I thought it might be fun to share some photos...










So far the most exciting part of the make over has been turning the pull out keyboard tray on my desk into a stow away order packing area. It was previously a catch-all for junk and now I have it set up to quickly package up orders, it's perfect!

I removed my apple shaped tv from my desk (I barely use it since I watch movies on my ipad) and bought an external monitor to hook up to my laptop on Monday but the darn thing died already so no pictures of that (although it did look awfully snazzy!). I'm not sure whether or not I'll be exchanging it for a new one or just putting the money I get back aside to save for an imac.

I can't wait to finish organizing and enjoy my workspace, it's a much bigger task than I imagined but I know it will be so worth it!

One step at a time!

After taking a bunch of photos of my craft room to blog about I realized my craft room really isn't as inspiring of a space as I'd like it to be. I decorated it with all my favorite things but it didn't come across to me as a crafty space.

This week I took down all my faux animal mounts and hung an inspiration board instead. I'm absolutely crazy about it. I hung it on the wall beside my desk so I can see it from where I sit.

Aren't those tacks the neatest?! I had a bunch of stuff hung up with boring ones then I dumped out a box and found those. Of course I had to take everything down and rehang them with those tacks! My dad had given them to me some time last year so that makes them extra special.

I'm really excited to be making my craft room a more inspiring crafty space. I think the issue before was it was too much like just another room in the house. I just wanted to sit in there and lounge, ya know what I mean? I'm working on displaying supplies, like the buttons in jars a few posts down, so that it can feel more like a place to work.

I'll be sure to share lots of photos when I finish redecorating.

Craft Room; another peek!

A few more peeks into my new craft room. I'm still moving things around almost everyday. Things are now hung on the walls. I moved a cozy yellow chair in for the kitties to hang out on. I took down my polaroid wall (seen in this post) and bought some fotoclips so they look neater, and won't fall down. (I'm just itching to get them and get all my picture hung again.) But anyways the room gets cozier all the time. I really, really enjoy working in there. I find myself going into to work as soon as possible and leaving only when I have to. Moving my craft room from the basement up to the spare bedroom? Best decision ever!








Well I'm back to work now. I have a big order to work on then I have plans to make some vegan chicken noodle soup. Yuuum, I can't wait.

Craft Room Photodump

Just some photos from in my new sewing room! It's coming along quite quickly so I'll refrain from posting any pictures of it until it's ready. Really, all that is left is hanging things on the walls. My desk is all set up (oh my gosh, I love it!), and mostly organized. Fabric is folded and put away neatly. It's really great being excited to go to work again.










I'm still super duper enjoying working in the spare bedroom. I absolutely adore watching the snow while I work, and boy oh boy it's doing a whole lot of it (we currently have over a foot of accumulation and it's supposed to keep snowing into wednesday! so much for going anywhere anytime soon.)

Move. Moving. Moved.

I've moved into a new craft room...

I've mentioned briefly on the blog about flooding in my basement. We made it through the summer with little water in the basement but the last few weeks have been terrible. Rain, rain and more rain have led to one heck of a stinky mess down there. It's a complete bummer to desert the beautiful room we all worked so hard on, spent so much time and money on but my business isn't worth the risk. I have tons of money in fabric, equipment and supplies down in my craft room and I just can't risk them getting wet, or smelly.

So, we've spent the last few weekends clearing out the spare bedroom (which was previously home to boxes of things that never got put away!). I'm moving in! I have mixed feelings on the situation. Like I said we spent lots of time and money making the basement a wonderful space for me to work. I'm going to miss the heck out of that space and all that storage. It's a sad process moving everything upstairs.

But on the other hand I've wanted to be in the spare bedroom since day one. I'm a light snob, plain and simple. If the room I'm in doesn't have oodles of natural light chances are I'm going to be whining. My new craft room has three big windows that just fill the whole space with light. It's wonderful, I'm able to work with the lights off and take beautiful photos (they were always yellowy when I took them in the basement.)

Another plus is that the spare bedroom is fairly small, and I like to nest. Excuse me for complaining about something really dumb - but the basement was just hairball too big and I never quite felt comfortable down there. While I'm not sure right now where everything will fit in the spare bedroom, it is so cozy in there.




I bought a nice big desk with a hutch attached for the new craft room (hurry fedex, I'm dying to set it up!). I'm looking forward to decorating and making the room an inspiring space. I'll make sure to keep you all updated with photos as it progresses.

More craft room close ups.

I guess we could call this part 2. (This being part 1) I'm constantly rearranging in there, always moving knick knacks, fabric stacks and button jars from shelf to shelf.  Aaaaanyway...less talk, more pictures!





 (one of my drawers, i keep all my "seconds" - pouches with stains, boo boos and zipper issues. they're full of screws, chapstick, cat whiskers, business cards and other goodies!)

It's a rainy day. Which is perfect. I'm cuddled up in a blanket, watching movies, thinking about making some hot chocolate and editing pictures for the fall update (September 20th. PS. This might be a good time to join the mailing list if you haven't yet ;) ) There are already a handful of items in my etsy shop but the majority of the update will be going on the website.
