What I wore; another walk in the park

    the details:
    sweater -
    c/o Club Couture
    shirt - thrifted
    necklace - c/o Lotta Losten
    skirt - c/o Club Couture
belt - vintage / gift from my mom
    tights - ebay
    hat - thrifted
    shoes - c/o Wanted Shoes

This outfit looks so strange to me right now. It was taken last week when the weather was...well, fall like. The last few days around here have been nearly 80F. It's great compared to the rainy yuck we were having before but it is a bummer it'll be the last time for like 6 months or so that we see temperatures this warm. I'm trying to squeeze in all the walks we can before we start having to bundle up for them. (You can see photos from some of our winter walks from early this year here, here and here.)

Well, I'm going back to work. Today I'll be finishing up an order for Shana Logic, tearing through the second season and starting the third of Breaking Bad, and working on a tutorial to post later this week! (Oh, and eating tons of cookies my mom sent home with me yesterday! Thanks Mom!!) Hope you all have a fabulous Monday!!
    xoxo

what I wore: bony legs!

    the details:
    jacket - thrifted
    tights - amazon
    brooch - vintage
    belt - thrifted
    sunglasses - c/o tumbleweeds
    shoes - thrifted

These tights are the worst, but gosh they're cute! The knee part fits right on my knees but the thigh bones just aren't long enough because they don't make it all the way up. I'm not even that tall! I love that the fact that Halloween is coming makes things like this (skeleton tights) acceptable to wear out in public. (not that I don't plan on wearing them all year round anyway!) although I must admit, the whole "is that a wig?" is kind of getting old.

On a completely unrelated note - I'm totally bummed about how pretty all my flowers look here. These photos are from a few weeks ago (I'm really behind on outfit posts, I have so many sitting in my queue) and since then nearly all have become victim of the cool weather. My deck looks so naked now! I wish I could have pretty flowers out there all year round.

Well I've got to get back to work, my sewing machine and Breaking Bad are waiting for me. ;)

what I wore: a random warm day in fall

    the details:
    dress - thrifted
    vest - thrifted
    camera bag - Jo Totes
socks - c/o We Love Colors
    boots - thrifted
    brooches - thrifted

The lack of detail shots in this post is kind of bugging me, but honestly, I'm happy to have any photos of this outfit/day. The mosquitoes were having a field day on this one random warm day in fall. I was covered in bites in literally seconds. I don't think I've ever seen them as bad as they were then, it was horrible. But it did lead us to the beach where I figured there wouldn't be any mosquitoes. (I was right too!)

It's a given that if I go to the beach I'm going to get my feet wet, I just can't fight the urge. So as usual I took of my shoes and kicked around in the water. The waves were larger than normal and ended up splashing my dress. It felt so good! I yelled to Kevin who was skipping stones (and clearly sneaking photos of me) to join in. He eventually took off his shoes and came in with me.
It was so much fun, I felt like I was in a commercial. Ya know, the kind that has someone doing something that is completely irrelevant to what they're trying to sell, so maybe this was a tampon commercial or something. I told Kevin that it felt good to let loose, to which we both cracked up because I really don't lead a very stressful life. But really, it felt great to just let the waves crash up on me, not caring that my clothes were getting soaked. You should try it! probably not today though, it's freeeeezing!

What I wore: to the park

    the details:
    vest - target
    flannel - thrifted
    shirt - thrifted
    jeans - target
    shoes - c/o Blowfish Shoes
    camera bag -  Jo Totes

So in love with this outfit, so in love with this weather! It feels so nice to layer. It's cozy! The weather here the last few weeks has been changing so often though. It'll be warm one day and very chilly the next. I can't wait until I can wear outfits like the one above everyday.

We're trying to squeeze in lots of walks in the park before hunting is allowed in the park for the year again. (the 15th!) I still can't believe you're allowed to hunt in the state park, how ridiculous! This is my favorite time of the year to explore. Almost everywhere is all ours, no one seems to explore the parks in the fall, and there are tons of mushrooms!

Hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday!
    xoxo

PS. I took pictures for a new "What Doctor Octopus wore" post yesterday. I am dying to show you! Soon!!

What I wore; feels like fall

    the details:
    shirt - thrifted
    skirt - thrifted (80 cents!)
belt - came with this dress
    necklace - a gift
    rings - forever 21
    shoes - c/o Wanted Shoes
    camera bag -  Jo Totes

Last week we had our first day that it felt like fall! It was in the 60's (fahrenheit, which is about 15 C for all my friends outside the US) and it was the first in a long time I wasn't sweating wearing a belted outfit. I swear wearing a belt makes it like ten times hotter than it really is! Even though I've been waiting and waiting for this weather it was a little shock to my system since just one day earlier it was the kind of heat where you sweat just sitting around.

I'm really excited to get to work today. I had *bingo* moment on Friday and am really looking forward to doing some research this week. I'm also starting some halloween projects today. so exciting!!

Hope you have an awesome Monday!
    xoxo

what I wore; exploring!

    the details:
dress - vintage (thrifted for 99 cents!)
necklace - won in a giveaway / made by Anirtak
    camera bag - Jo Totes
    shoes - TJ Maxx

These may have been taken on the last day of great summer weather. On this particular day it was perfect outside, it wasn't hot, but it wasn't cold. A short sleeved dress with no tights couldn't have been more comfortable. We didn't get nearly enough days like it this summer.

I'm crazy about this dress. I saw it peeking out of the racks at Goodwill and knew I had to have it no matter the cut of the dress. I tried it on when I got home and wasn't really in love with the neckline and sleeves. They felt out of my comfort zone. But after about twenty minutes of wearing it and checking in front of the mirror another ten times I really came to love it. I'm kind of bummed to find such a cute, lightweight dress right at the end of summer, but I'm sure she'll be getting lots of use this fall and winter too!

Hope you all have an awesome day. I know I will, I ate pizza for breakfast! ;)
    xoxo

What I wore; to my parents!

     The details;
    shirt - Target
    skirt - Thrifted
    belt - Thrifted
    camera bag - JoTotes
    shoes - Thrifted

    Three things:
One - I am absolutely in love with this skirt. Add it to the list of "things I wish weren't vintage so I could buy them in every color ever", seriously. I know, it looks just like a normal skirt, but I swear it has super powers one of which is making you feel so incredibly fancy and feminine but still being perfect to play in. It fits perfectly, I think it was made for me. I tried it on with a ton of different shirt and belt combos before finally settling on this since I was just heading over to my parents to visit but I see this skirt being worn til it falls apart. High waist, knee length skirts in solid colors are most likely going to be my fall uniform, the thrift store has been enabling this obsession.

Two - Isn't my new camera bag beeeeeeautiful!? You saw my other one a week or so ago in this outfit post. But I think this one might be my favorite of the two (Oh, I dunno, it's really hard to choose!) I have a review with tons of detail pictures ready to post soon, probably sometime early next week.

Three - My nephew is the coolest little dude in the world. I wish he'd stay this age forever.

Hope you have a perfect day! I've got a nice day planned that includes catching up on emails, finishing up a new nail tutorial, and rinsing hair dye out, the green is gone! ;)
    xoxo!

PS. How do you like the new layout?! If you're reading in a reader make sure to jump out and check out how snazzy The Dainty Squid is looking!!

My perfect Tuesday evening consisted of...

(this post was set to post on Wednesday morning but apparently it decided not to so I'm sharing it today instead!)
prancing around the house in a cute outfit!
(shirt - c/o Glamour Kills Clothing, shorts - thrifted, socks - gift from my mom)
sitting on the deck admiring my pretty flowers who I will sorely miss when winter comes around.
devouring corn on the cob with my best friend.
getting work that's been hanging over my head done! (photographing products is such a chore!)
     and giggling at kitties!!
I love relaxing at home. (I'm a really big homebody in case you haven't already gathered that)

I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!
    xoxo!!

What I wore; copycat

    the details;
    dress - forever 21
    ring - c/o Maie Dae
    belt - modcloth
    shoes - c/o Blowfish Shoes
nails - chine glaze crackle with sally hansen quick dry underneath.

Happy September 1st!! The weather here in Ohio is perfectly fitting for the first day of September, it's cool, and crisp. The perfect day for a dress, tights and a sweater. I love it! Recently I've had a lot of luck thrifting clothes. Previously it was something I merely browsed over quickly but since actually looking through racks I've found so many goodies - especially for fall! The only thing I seem to be lacking is fall colored tights. I'm thinking my closet needs some oranges, reds, and dark greens!

The title of this outfit post is based off the fact I bought this dress after I saw Elycia rockin' it! It looked too cute to resist! I'm really glad I bought it too, even if it was a spur of the moment purchase. It's lightweight so it's perfect for warmer weather, but looks perfect with lots of layers as well. I'm looking forward to wearing it again and styling it another way.

Hope you all have a perfect first day of September! I've got to head back to work now, I'm working on a new blog design for The Dainty Squid. It looks so awesome, I'm really excited to finish it up and share.
    xoxo
