Happy Honeybean Day!

Today is the day! We're opening up for our soft launch weekend! I know I've been non-stop talking about Honeybean the past few weeks but I'm sure you can imagine how full our hearts feel! Yesterday was a full day with getting tattooed and heading straight to the fairgrounds to set up. Turns out our booth was a whole lot smaller than we were anticipating (and told), but we decided to work with it and make it happen anyway! We'll know next time to reserve two booths instead! We don't know how successful the weekend will but we're happy to get the ball rolling! Brian and Christina were working serious overtime helping us set up. Thank god for amazing friends!

Last night Vanessa from Wanderlust stopped by for some chit chat and she's just the sweetest ever! If you're from Portland (or visit) then you should check out her little mobile venture! They just celebrated their first year and I hope we're in their spot next year! Yay!

We're opening bright and early at 8am and we'll be at the fairgrounds until 5! Saturday Mike is opening the shoppe at 7am and I'll trickle in between 9 and 10, same for Sunday! If you're in the area please come stop by! Lot 4 (parking lot), booth 98! Look for the silly little 'bean!

And here's one of me getting my shin tattooed yesterday for good measure! I think I really psyched myself out for it and it was such a breeze. No pain whatsoever! But honestly it was all in Laura's machine! She was using her beau's instead and it is calibrated so beautifully! I hope the other leg (Friday!) is as easy to sit through!

Sunday Spotlight - Tattooist: Amanda Wachob

If you use Tumblr or are just a fan of the web, chances are highly likely that you've seen some tattoo work by Amanda Wachob, a brilliant tattooist currently working from Dare Devil Tattoo in New York City. Amanda has such a way with her tattoos! She has such a painterly hand for using a tattoo machine. Many of her abstract tattoos have been reblogged on Tumblr with thousands and thousands of notes. Of course good tattoos don't come cheap (as they shouldn't!) and Amanda's hourly rate is $300 and she's currently booked 5 months out! 5 months is nothing compared to how booked she has been though! You'll definitely have to throw down some dough to get one of her pieces but I can't imagine a proper art collection being complete without one! Just peep some of her work below and you'll see exactly what I mean!

New cotton candy curls and a fully finished sleeve! I promise better pictures of my arm once it's all healed up nice and pretty! I just had to throw in some Pip and Georgia, too! Friday Favorite: Sea Life Tattoos!

So it's no newsflash that I love sharks... obviously. And I must take a liking to octopus since I have one so prominetly tattooed on my forearm... but did you know I also love Beluga whales (well, whales in general), seals and sea lions, and a ton of other sweet little sub-water creatures?! Well... I do! I also like them in tattoo form. Here are some lovely marine life tattoos that get me giddy! (They all have click-through sources, too)

and because I didn't take better photos of my tattoo today (because its still really swollen and glossy from fresh ointment..) here are these from my phone. The colors are much brighter than I anticipated but I love them. They'll lighten up a whole lot when it heals, but still, it's so fun! My next session is in just under three weeks so I'll be getting the rest of the linework and then more color! Huzzah! Hopefully only a few more sessions until it's done! (At least my wallet hopes so!)

Today I'm focusing solely on Traditional Tattoos as they're my most favorite style. All of the ones featured have click-through sources.

I know everyone doesn't like tattoos, but for those of you who do, what is your favorite style and why? American Traditional, Neo-Traditional, Japanese, Realistic, Abstract, etc? Can't wait to hear!
