photo an hour; camping with Elycia

Last weekend Kevin and I drove to Salamanca, NY to meet up with Ivan and Elycia again! We had plans to antique and camp. Instead of telling you all about it in paragraph form both Elycia and I took a photo an hour on Saturday, here is mine...

6am // Just leaving the house. It was a rainy morning, and I had yet to eat breakfast so we stopped at Dunkin Donuts to grab a donut and some chocolate milk for the road.
7am // After a brief nap in the car I woke up to beautiful scenery and fog.
8am // Bear!! This is the first sign I've ever seen instructing me to watch for bears, I was pretty stoked.
9am // We arrived in Salamanca, NY, met with Ivan and Elycia and wandered around the town waiting for the antique mall to open.
10am // They opened at 10 but we were apparently too busy taking jumping photos to care!
    11am // Getting our antique on! ;)
    12pm // ...still antiquing.
1pm // Arrived at Allegany State Park, which is only around 15 minutes away from the antique mall. Shortly after we started driving through to look for a place to spend the night I spotted a weasel (errr, after looking it up we've come to the conclusion it was a mink)! I screamed at the top of my lungs (literally) with excitement. To be honest, I'm still pretty stoked about it.
2pm // It had been raining on and off all day and we decided to just rent a cabin for the night instead of worrying about what we'd do if it rained in the evening (sitting in the tent instead of around a fire wouldn't be much fun) The woman in the first part of the park led us on a wild goose chase looking for avaliable cabins. Finally we made out way further into the park and found another area to find a cabin. We were half stoked and half terrified of all the "do not feed bear" signs plastered around.
3pm // We got a cabin, finally. It was so precious. Four cots (which were actually REALLY comfortable), a fridge, stove and fireplace were inside and I don't think any of us could have been happier with our choice to rent a cabin instead of camp.
4pm // Yeah, this photo would be Kevin and Ivan showing us how they would protect us from bears if we happened to see any on our hike up to the bear caves.
also 4pm // On the trails there were lots of slugs mating. (When we got home I looked more extensively into this, and was truly intrigued. It's pretty interesting if you ask me!)
5pm // We drove down the the lake. We all oooh-ed and ahhh-ed over how gorgeous the view was and decided it was perfect to take jumping photos in front of. (Aiy yi yi, like every picture of Elycia and I ever is of us jumping!)
    6pm // Cooking our dinner!
7pm // Ready to chow down. Oh my gosh, it was so delicious. I planned on taking embarrassing photos of everyone eating corn on the cob, perhaps to make up for how ridiculous I look while eating it with corn all up in my braces, but it was so tasty I didn't even take a breath let alone pick up my camera!
a little bit later but still 7pm // We drove over to the lake to watch the sun set. It was so beautiful.
8pm // This is only shortly after the photo of the sunset was taken and was actually right behind me while I was looking at the view of the sunset. There was something beautiful to look at no matter which way you turned!
a little bit later but still 8pm // After the sunset we headed back to the cabin, had a fire and devoured some pizza. It was the perfect end to a perfect day!
Can't wait to meet up again Elycia!
    xoxo!

A photo an hour; my Sunday

8 am // My little chubbers in his favorite spot and favorite position. He totally knows how cute he is! At this point during the morning I was waiting on Kevin to get ready to leave. He's pretty pokey sometimes.
9 am // On our way to Erie, we had to take the back roads because it was raining so hard but as soon as we got on our way it quit raining and turned into a great change of scenery on the normally boring drive!
10 am // We went to Presque Isle before heading into town. It was such perfect weather. I wore a sweater and could have gotten away with tights too!
11 am // More walking around Presque Isle. I really hate walking in the sand but the trails are so beautiful!
12 pm // One last picture from Presque Isle. I found this gorgeous common earthball (Scleroderma citrinum) PS. I'm having so much fun identifying mushrooms, I wish we would have learned more about this stuff in school.
1 pm // FOOD TIME! We stopped off at the Co-Op to grab some groceries and a bite to eat. Our food of choice? Baked Tofu sandwiches. We've even become known as 'the baked tofu couple' by our favorite staff member since that's what we always get.
2 pm // On the way out of the Co-op these were spotted pushing their way out of the ground. Amazing how mushrooms can thrive just about anywhere.
3 pm // We hit up the junk store. I love digging through the cameras, even if I rarely purchase any. I'd love to build a pretty little display for them (although that would compromise the fun that is digging through them)
4 pm // We started the drive home but ended up getting lost. Lost isn't always bad though. We explored country roads and dreamed about owning a farm someday. It was perfect!
5 pm // Still lost & loving it!
6 pm // Finally home. I think this little critter missed his momma! (or perhaps just wanted fed...)
7 pm // Time to throw my feed up on the couch and enjoy some pita and baba ghanoush
And that was a peek into my Sunday!

I've been working all morning on putting together lots of scrap fabric (I'm still in the process of clearing out all my cutesy prints!) I've got a nice chunk of them listed in The Destash Squid. I'm going to get back at it now, because I've finally started to put a dent in it and now I feel motivated!
    xoxo

A photo an hour...

It's been a while since I did a photo an hour for the whole day (here's the last time) It's something I'd really like to do more often, but I usually end up starting then time gets lost while I work and the project is ruined but Thursday I managed to remember each hour!

8am // finally getting caught up on taking photos of my 52 weeks of instax project!
9am // an early lunch. veggie dogs, and a cookie
10am // work, work, work. new triangle pouches and some limited edition screen printed stumps.
11am // cutting fabric for pencil pouches and watching reruns of SNL from the 1990's on netflix.
12pm // so happy with this little design! kind of obsessed with flaps, can't wait to show you this month's clutch of the month design. (it's not this, this is just a one of a kind pouch)
1pm // distracted by candles. I can't help but always stick my fingers in the wax, but yikes, gel candles get sooo much hotter.
2pm // ripping the seams out of a dress I "fixed" years ago. the stitching was beyond embarrassing, my sewing has improved tenfold since!
3pm // took some portraits of the usually shy Miss Squid. She's so beautiful. I'm very happy to have some more photos of her.
4pm // headed outside to watch my mom powerwash my back patio. (she'd been over all morning powerwashing the decks, sidewalk and patios around my house. i think she might be mildly obsessed!)
5pm // took some portraits of a handsome little boy! I'll show you them soon!
6pm // painted my toenails while my dad installed new light fixtures in our hallway. (my parents have been over a lot recently helping us spruce up the house for our house guests later this month. thanks mom and dad!)
7pm. // my parents left, kevin was putting some finish on our new cupboard doors to be and I threw my feet up on the table, relaxed and watched Son-in-law. loooooooove Pauly Shore!
    xoxo!!

A Photo an hour.

    Yesterday I took one photo an hour for the whole day (well 11 hours of it, from 8am to 7pm). So here is my day in photos;
8am - sewing pouches that we screen printed the night before. They turned out so cute, you can see one in later in this post.
9am - things I do while I work; watch netflix movies on my ipad and sip on birch beer (the best drink ever, only second to root beer)
10am - things on my desk.
11am - lunch! Bread sticks and yogurt. I kind of forgot to take photos before I devoured them...hey, I was really hungry and they were awfully tasty.
12pm - Straightened up my desk. I can make one crazy mess in just a few hours.
    1pm - Packing orders.
2pm - Being annoyed by kitties who jump up on the back of my chair and make it wobble like crazy! I always feel like they're going to pull the chair over (even with me on it) as they climb up to get on.
3pm - I guess he was sorry for annoying me earlier. ;)
4pm - watching me intently as I snack on vegan pepperoni.
5pm - A trip to the new discovered Goodwill.
6pm - Got home from mini thrift trip and photographed what I found; a brand new pair of shoes and a sleeveless baseball shirt for this summer!
7pm - relaxing on the couch and doing my nails.
And that was my day! ...Well, a small glimpse into each hour.
    xoxo
